Phoebe Waller-Bridge has a very exciting ambition for season three of Killing Eve

Let’s face it: we’re all just a little bit obsessed with Phoebe Waller-Bridge

If she isn’t starring in her hit comedy Fleabag, she’s probably writing the script for her BAFTA award winning drama Killing Eve, or sprucing up 007 in the newest Bond script. Bar that, she’s probably working on one of her many ongoing projects, or simply being her amazing self.

And now, the actress, screenwriter and all-around-fantastic-human is set to take on new territory: a role in season three of Killing Eve

Speaking to the Mirror, Waller-Bridge revealed she’s already thinking of ideas for season three, and admitted she’s thought about writing herself a part in the series for one very specific reason: she wants to see herself murdered by the show’s simultaneously loveable and terrifying assassin, Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer

“I was like, I am going to write myself a part so that I can be murdered by Jodie,” she explained.

She also spoke about how she considered taking on one of the main roles - the second of which is Sandra Oh’s character, MI5 agent Eve Polastri – but felt that she didn’t fit into either.

“I just had a really strong instinct that there should be this age gap because I just felt like it was something I hadn’t seen. I’m not a 25-year-old Jodie Comer – I mean, let’s be frank,” she joked.

“And I don’t know if I could have scaled a wall quite like she could have done, and I’m not in my early 40s either.”

This isn’t the first time Waller-Bridge has got us excited about her making an appearance in the series.

Speaking to The Radio Times in May, she revealed how the team had talked about her appearing in the series – but nothing had ever come of it.

“We talked about it! They were going to kill me! But by the time we were writing it, I’d weirdly written myself out of the casting bracket,” she revealed.  “I’d love to be murdered by Jodie.”

The show picked up three Baftas at the awards ceremony in May, despite controversy over the show’s eligibility because of its original broadcast in the US. The show’s third season was confirmed before season two had even been aired – demonstrating the huge success of the story.

The drama follows the lives of super-star assassin Villanelle and M15 agent Eve Polastri as they grow increasingly obsessed with each other, in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. The show’s second season, which broadcast in the US two months before it hit UK screens, is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

We’re not sure exactly when season three is coming yet (it’s supposed to arrive somewhen in 2020), but for now, we’ll spend our time imagining what murder method Waller-Bridge will pick for her grisly demise.

Poisoning, anyone?
