Whether you’re looking for interiors inspiration, planning a dinner party or shopping for your next seasonal look, Pinterest is the best platform for it. Here’s how to make the most of it…

With over 200 billion Pins (ideas) across Pinterest, if you can’t find inspiration there you probably don’t want it.

But with that much visual content in one place it can sometimes take a hell of a lot of scrolling to find exactly what you’re after, whether it’s a private island or a plant pot.

To make sure you find what you’re looking for, here are five tips to become a Pinterest pro and reap the inspiration payoffs…

1. Search wide, then hone in

If you’re looking for something specific like ‘Moorish bathroom tiles in blue’, start with a generalised search topic like ‘patterned tiles’ instead.

Once you find something you like from the results, look at the related Pins at the bottom of that Pin and take it from there. And prepare to dive into a pin hole.

2. Follow and shop, there and then

Pinterest is becoming more and more shoppable, so when you find a Pin you like, look out for the ‘more to shop’ section and you’ll be able to shop the item or one like it immediately (ordering those tiles just became a lot less time consuming).

By following that creator or brand, you’ll also be able to discover new things you might not have searched for. You can also tap on ‘Today’ at the top of your home feed to find even more ideas curated by Pinterest editors. The ‘Today’ tab is where you can be inspired daily by new visuals, creators and brands that are aligned with the stuff you already love the most.

3. Take note

One of Pinterest’s newest functions means you can create notes for your boards. Hosting a socially responsible BBQ and have started your board full of recipes, recyclable disposable cutlery and garden decorations?

Add notes to it and you can a shopping list and add dates into a calendar to keep track of a project. Planners, rejoice.

4. Get personalised recommendations

Chances are you spend enough time on your socials to not want more notifications or emails popping up.

We get it, but the Pinterest emails are specifically tailored to you, meaning they’re a great way to find new things that stand out for your taste and to shop and save things you may not have discovered otherwise. So it’s actually worth signing up for the emails and notifications.
