Princess Beatrice is getting married, and her sister Eugenie helped her to make the announcement in a very special way.
Last year, Eugenie also paid tribute to Beatrice, thanking her for encouraging her to “live fearlessly”, despite her painful scoliosis medical condition.
So it was only fitting that Beatrice’s engagement was announced in the loveliest way on her younger sister’s social media.
Beatrice’s engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was confirmed on Thursday (26 September), with the pair expected to marry next year.
Eugenie celebrated the news by taking the couple’s engagement photos and sharing them on her Instagram.
“Beabea - wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo,” Eugenie wrote.
“It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. [Photos] by me!”
She then wrote out the couple’s statement:
“We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married.
“We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
The fact that Beatrice trusted her sister to take such special photos and share them with the world. proves that Eugenie really is her best friend.
The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, has also shared her joy over the news.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “Eugenie took the colour photographs as my girls are so close.
The black and white photographs were taken by Misan Harriman at Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park.”
She added: “I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law.”
Last year, the Yorks celebrated Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank. The Windsor Castle ceremony was attended by 850 guests, including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Cara Delevingne. The bride wore a dress that was designed to show off and celebrate her scoliosis scar, created by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos.
We’ll have more details on the specifics of Beatrice’s wedding in due course.
Until then, congratulations Beatrice!
And well done Eugenie for proving that no relationship is as special as that sisterly bond.
