This might just be the most British thing to have ever happened.
Prosecco, as we all know, is one of the best boozy drinks around (especially when you consider the fact that it’s packed full of unexpected health benefits).
But, when it comes to daytime drinking, we usually prefer to steer clear of all things alcoholic and settle down with a delicious cup of steaming hot tea – preferably with a biscuit on the side, for dunking purposes.
Now, thanks to a daring new idea from Aldi, you no longer have to choose between the two…

Say hello to Prosecco-flavoured teabags, everybody.
A brand-new brew inspired by our favourite bubbly, these teabags are decaffeinated and non-alcoholic – which means you’ll get all the taste and none of the horrid after-effects of a boozy night out.
Or, to quote Aldi themselves, it’s “a vibrant festive taste with an invigorating Italian Prosecco profile”.
At £1.89 for a pack of 15 teabags, there’s no denying that it’s far cheaper to brew your own Prosecco-flavoured treat than fork out for a bottle of the real thing.
While the concept of booze in tea may feel strangely sacrilegious to some, people have gone wild for the non-alcoholic teatime treat on social media.
One wrote on Twitter: “Get in my trolley!”
“When you can be classy while drinking tea,” tweeted another.
And one, clearly frazzled, office worker added: “We bloody need these for the office.”
While Prosecco is clearly the UK’s tipple of choice (sales of the Italian fizzy wine were revealed to have risen by almost 50% between 2014 and last year), it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
So, for those who prefer mulled wine (and, let’s face it, that’s also a sound choice), don’t despair; they’ve got a teabag for that, too.
To Aldi, everybody…
