Queer Eye’s Fab Five have revealed that the rekindled romance between Tom and Abby from episode one nearly didn’t happen…

It’s a love story that’s sparked multiple ‘what if’ conversations, brought tears of joys to many and given us all a little hope in 2018.

Of course, we’re referring to the rekindled romance between Tom Jackson and Abby on the hit TV series, Queer Eye. But as it turns out, the onscreen meet cue nearly didn’t happen.

“Antoni shifted that episode,” Karamo Brown told EW, admitting the guys had never spoken about this change publicly.

Say what you want about Antoni’s basic cooking skills, but it was due to his great listening abilities and spotting an unfinished love story a mile off that altered the Fab Five’s agenda.

While in the kitchen, Antoni noticed several bars of chocolate lying around, thinking they were for Tom’s grandson. However, they were actually gifts from Abby.

“We see each other now and then,” Tom said.

“Wait, why did your face twitch?” Antoni said, smiling. “Talk to me about that.”

And as we all now know, Tom really wasn’t over his ex-wife, Abby. “I love her more than anything. I wanna spend my life with her,” Tom told Antoni.

The original plan for the episode was to help Tom set up his online dating profile and get back in the dating game. However, after that comment the guys made it their mission to get the pair back together again. A sliding doors moment, perhaps?

“Antoni catching that one [comment where Tom mentions Abby] literally cut my scene out, which I’m happy about,” Karamo told EW. “All of a sudden we are on a bench and I’m like, ‘Call your ex-wife!’” Tom invited her to the car show, and the rest is history.

Months later, cue: an elopement, a honeymoon and a second marriage.

The duo tied the knot (again) on 27 March at a private ceremony at Chapel at the Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

“I was excited and happy!” Abby told Us Weekly. “I was marrying the love of my life. Tom looked happy and excited as I walked down the aisle — I was looking at him looking at me and he was smiling as I walked down the aisle!”

The couple then enjoyed a “honeymoon in the mountains,” according to Tom’s tweets.

Bravo, Fab Five!

The second season of Queer Eye is due to air on 15 June.
