Would you eat brussel sprouts on a pizza?
Forget slaving away over Christmas dinner this year (read: watching someone else cook it while you slope off with a mulled wine). Asda has made December’s greatest meal a doddle by piling it all onto a pizza.
From 7 December, the supermarket will be stocking its first ever Christmas pizza, complete with chicken (ahem, Asda, it should be turkey but we’ll let it slide), roast potatoes, cranberry sauce and that most controversial vegetable: Brussels sprouts.
If this collision of foods is filling you with horror then form an orderly queue behind the many Twitter users who have taken to the social media platform to voice their outrage.
in asda they have a “Christmas dinner special” pizza going on sale soon and it looks like a disease 🤢— jem 🦖 (@jurassicdearing) November 14, 2017
Not sure how to feel about the fact that Asda have brought out a Christmas dinner pizza— Isobel (@bella_blogs) November 15, 2017
Asda are doing a 'Christmas pizza'.. I'm sorry no that's not on— Anna. (@anna_edgell21) September 15, 2017
The pizza will cost £2.60 for a 10 inch, or £4 for a 14 inch. Good luck trying to work out how many you will need to feed the entire family - you might want to add in some salad to balance it. Actually, forget we said that.
If you really feel the need to serve the best meal of the year on a doughy platter we suggest you at least upgrade to the Pizza Express offering: a roast potato, beef and horseradish festive pizza. It’s a long way from nirvana, but at least there’s not a Brussels sprout in sight.
