We love chocolate, we love avocado, so what’s not to love about a new creation that marries the two in a bar of pure deliciousness?

Dreamed up by luxury chocolatiers Love Cocoa, the organic 70% dark chocolate bar is bound to be a hit with millennials (cue avocado on toast jokes), not only for our reported obsession with the fruit, but also because of its vegan status, which means everyone (and there’s an increasing number eschewing animal products) can get a square of the action.

The Avocado Dark Chocolate Bar, to use its official name, uses naturally dried avocado pulp powder, which, although we admit doesn’t sound like the most indulgent thing in the world, promises to deliver that creamy texture we so love – along with a healthy hit of nutrients.

The confectionery connoisseurs combine this with Arriba cocoa beans from Ecuador, considered among the best in the world, to create a high quality, dark, vegan chocolate here in Britain.

And who do we have to thank for this Europe first?

None other than James Cadbury, a descendant of the famous father of chocolate, John Cadbury – so we’re guessing he knows his stuff, then.

Speaking about what sparked this work of genius, (Cadbury revealed he’s just like the rest of us when it comes to shamelessly Instagramming brunch, something that inspired him to combine two of his great loves.

Cadbury explains: “Growing up a Cadbury, I’ve always loved chocolate and experimenting in the kitchen. And like the millions on Instagram, I’m also an avocado fan, so I thought why not mix two of the most loved flavours and foods together?”

We don’t know why we didn’t think of it first – especially as we’re well aware the creamy fruit lends itself particularly well to desserts.

Considering social media is a large part of what made avocados so popular, it’s no surprise that Twitter users are going wild for the new chocolate bar, with many rejoicing that vegans will be able to take a bite too.

For one Twitter user, this is as good as 2017 gets: “Is this peak 2017? Avocado chocolate bars are here.”

Another Tweeter said what we were all thinking, “Two of my favourite things together, chocolate  and avocado.”

After the avolatte (a coffee poured into an avocado skin), avocado art and avocado-only restaurants bursting onto the scene in last few years, avocado chocolate seems like the next logical step. Don’t fight it.

Right now you can only snaffle yourself a bar from the Love Cocoa website for £4.25, but more stockists will be announced in the near future.
