You've had milkshakes. You've had some very good milkshakes. You may have even had milkshakes blending together such treats as chocolate biscuits, liberal dollops of peanut butter and too much cream, but this, dear readers, is the Freakshow. And we've never seen anything like it. Not in real life, anyway.
Served in the Pâtissez bakery and café in Canberra, Australia, the Freakshow has caused a sensation with its ridiculously indulgent nature and Instagram-worthy looks. The range includes such joys as The Nutty Pât - a hot, salted caramel concoction topped with an actual piece of pie - and The Muddy Pât, a warm fudge shake proudly garnished with a massive toasted marshmallow.
The 30-seat café launched in spring, and is co-owned by Anna Petridis, 26, and her mother Gina, 49, alongside husband and wife French pastry chefs Ismael and Astrid Toorawa.
Anna and Gina were contestants on reality cookery show My Kitchen Rules, where they were sent packing in the first week. But the Australian public have clearly taken the duo to their hearts, leading Pâtissez having to post on their Facebook page that they can't take bookings due to being "tragically small".
The calorific creations have swept social media, with Instagram users stoking demand by flocking to share pictures of the shakes.
Co-owner Anna told The Canberra Times: "I wanted to do some really great shakes, and so ridiculous and over the top that people just had to take a photo of it before they ate it. We never imagined the response to be this big."
Canberra customers desperate for a taste of the $9.50 shakes queue for up to an hour to get their hands on one, but sadly, we can only indulge in a visual treat while hoping the UK's talent for soaking up food trends around the world kicks in.
In the meantime, you could always have a look at some of the bakery's other outrageous offerings below, courtesy of the bakery's Instagram page (which can be followed here) or further feast your eyes on these delectable desserts from the inventor of the Cronut. Go on, we won't judge you.
