Mary Berry step aside, there’s a new green-fingered bake queen in town (and by town, we mean, of course, Instagram).

A woman who started out making cookies for her daughter’s school four years ago discovered she had an extraordinary talent for creating icing in the image of everyone’s favourite fleshy plant, the succulent.

Iven Kawi, who is based in Jakarta, was clearly too talented to confine her work to school bake-offs and is now a pastry chef with a thriving business and hundreds of thousands of Insta followers.

She handmakes her buttercream frosting using butter, powdered sugar, food colouring and flavouring, according to Bored Panda. Kawi then pipes the cream into hyperreal cacti and flower petals, including less “pretty” details such as spines, needles, leaves and traditional terrarium bases such as sand and even soil.

Feast your eyes on these tasty terrarium treats:

And if you’re struggling to keep your real life plants alive, Alice Vincent has told the tips everyone who owns a houseplant should know
