Drop everything: the Creme Egg Café is back (and this time, it's touring the UK)

Almost exactly a year ago, the snacking world was shaken to the core when news broke of a three-floor cafe devoted entirely to Cadbury Creme Eggs.

For some, it was heaven brought to Earth in restaurant-form – drunk with the giddy reality of a whole menu incorporating the seasonal treats, for those people the possibility of a Creme Egg toastie became a glittering beacon illuminating the dark corners of January with its fondant promise.

For others, it was nothing more than a tantalising tease, a glimpse of Creme Eggs and soldiers, of what could have been. A sugary slap in the face to anyone who didn’t live in that there London, where it was popping up for its all too brief appearance.

And so it is with great pleasure that we can breathlessly reveal the Creme Egg Café is back – and this time, it’s touring the UK.

Starting in London on 27 January, it will then visit Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and Edinburgh before returning to the capital at the end of February.

Tickets go on sale today (12 January) at 12pm so be quick: it was a total sell-out last year (although limited walk-in space will be offered again). Tickets can be booked at eventbrite.co.uk and cost £4.71 per person.

There are some changes for 2017: the café has been transformed into a hunting lodge, complete with a “wall-to-ceiling display of Creme Egg hunting paraphernalia” and customers will have the chance to “hone their hunting skills and leave as expert Creme Egg hunters”.

New dishes will include gooey Creme Egg s’mores (eat-in and takeaway), hunter’s hot chocolate, forest fridge cake and black forest toastie, all priced at £4 (including tea, coffee or water).

And you can feel good about your indulgence as 100% of proceeds at the Creme Egg Hunting Lodge will be donated to the Prince’s Trust charity.
