Dinner chez Isla

You probably know her as comedy gold, but there’s one thing Isla Fisher takes seriously – her cookbook collection. Here she shares her favourite five…

I recently discovered Balaboosta by Einat Admony (£20.99, Artisan). The Chicken Little recipe in which you bake some chicken breaded in Corn Flakes is divine.

An old favourite is Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sam Tamimi (£27, Ebury Press). I think I have tried everything in this beloved, food-splattered bible and never hit a wrong note. All their creations are exciting and challenging to make which is fun.

The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook

For my sweet tooth I love The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook by Tarek Malouf (£16.99, Ryland Peters and Small). Sure, my cakes don’t look anything like the photographs but decorating a three-layered cake takes time and I have zero self control where sugar is involved.

15-Minute Meals

I am a tad obsessed with 15-Minute Meals by Jamie Oliver (£26, Michael Joseph). The recipes really do only take 15 minutes to make and they give the impression that you are a proper fancy chef. Let’s be honest, 2KD (two kids deep) equals limited time. All these recipes are simple, healthy and divine. My favourite dish is the white fish tagine.

Deceptively Delicious

And lastly I can’t get enough of Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld (£7.99, HarperCollins). She came up with hiding pureed cauliflower in mac and cheese and kale in spaghetti and meatballs. C’mon, how great is she?

Isla Fisher

Stylist first met Isla in April after flying to Los Angeles to speak to her ahead of her role in The Great Gatsby (issue 173, may 2013). Her warmth, honesty and wicked sense of humour put her straight to the top of our dream dinner party guest list.
