We’ve had the Starbucks secret menu, tumeric lattes and espresso Martinis galore. But now it seems there’s a new coffee trend poised to inundate your Instagram feed: the espresso tonic.
Caffeine addicts the world over have been devouring the new cocktail, which consists of a shot of espresso topped up with tonic water.
Social media users from Tokyo to Seattle seem to be picking up on the fad, with coffee shops quickly adapting to satisfy the hipster demand.
In the fickle world of Instagram crazes, the espresso tonic was preceded by the Tumeric latte.
The drink - usually made with either almond or coconut milk, ginger, turmeric, coconut oil and pepper - was said to aid digestion and act as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
And it received a considerable profile boost when it was revealed Gwyneth Paltrow was a fan of the uber trendy beverage.
Similarly, it was reported last year that bars in both London and Melbourne had seen a notable surge in Espresso Martini orders - which was chalked up to their popularity with the Instagram set.
But now it’s the espresso tonic’s time to shine, with the hashtag #espressotonic racking up thousands of posts already.
Whatever will they come up with next?
