Nutella plus a doughnut plus a milkshake is a very ambitious choice for even the most ardent of chocoholics.
The Tella Ball Shake has a Nutella-filled doughnut perched on top of a Nutella milkshake and you drink (slurp) it through a straw that is threaded through the doughnut for a direct hit of that delicious filling.
The shake is the brainchild of a Sydney-based cafe, Foodcraft Espresso, whose chefs invented it after getting creative with their famous Tella Balls - doughnuts crammed with novel sweet fillings.
It costs AU$10 (around a fiver) and contains three scoops of Nutella and vanilla bean ice-cream blended with ice. Unsurprisingly, people have embraced the milkshake on social media.
One Instagram post of the shake via @breakfastinsydney had almost 2500 comments and nearly 4000 likes in just a matter of hours.
Individually, the Tella Balls (which cost around £2 each) come in four flavours: the signature Nutella, salted caramel, vanilla bean ricotta and five-berry jam.
Foodcraft Espresso - a cafe based, unfortunately, all the way in Sydney, makes the Tella Balls onsite and also sells the doughnuts to about 50 cafes across Sydney. About 800 Tella Balls were made at the weekend and sold out due to high demand with the cafe's great logo: “Life is short, eat dessert first.“
"It's pretty lethal" says Aki Daikos, who opened Foodcraft Espresso with his business partner Simon Kappatos in May.
“We came up with the shake last week after trying to be creative in the kitchen, it just went mental.”
The sooner it's shipped over here or one of our finest cafes comes up with something similar, the better.
