Meet the Angelina Jolie Maleficent cake. It's terrifying

Published

The best things in life can be baked into a cake, right? That's what a pair of London-based bakers must have thought when they created this giant cake inspired by film Maleficent, the hotly anticipated retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

Known as The Tattooed Bakers, Eddie Lebeau, 26 and Richard Amon, 33, have uncannily captured Angelina Jolie's features as Disney's most iconic villain, Maleficent, in sugarpaste, including her fierce green eyes and horns.

A slice cut into the cake reveals it is made from a rightfully gory red velvet sponge and cream.

The creative duo behind the cake are famous in food circles for blurring the lines between cake, reality and art. TV chef Gizzi Erskine praised their latest work on her Instagram page describing the piece as "a gem of a cake".

Maleficent is out in cinemas nationwide tomorrow (Wednesday 28 May).

In spirit of this creation, we scoured the internet for other amazing Maleficent-inspired cakes. Take a look at the works of food art below...
