Heaven has arrived for chocolate lovers.
One very talented food blogger has created a recipe for giant Ferrero Rochers, made with the same much-loved nutty exterior and chocolate shell.
Regular Ferrero Rochers are about an inch wide and can be swallowed in about five bites. These Rochers are closer to five inches wide, says Elizabeth LaBau of website Sugar Hero, and can easily serve two-to-four people over dessert "depending on levels of hunger".
So is it really a large Ferrero Rocher? Although they look almost identical, LaBau says they won't taste exactly the same. While traditional Rochers are mostly filled with soft Nutella and a single hazelnut, in reality it would have been far too unappetising on a larger scale.
For that reason, the blogger substituted it for three layers of moist chocolate cake and hazelnut-speckled, chocolate-hazelnut mousse (we're not complaining).
LaBau demonstrates exactly how she made it in a montage of images below. First she made chocolate shells using two bowls for the mold. Then she cut the chocolate sponge using a cookie cutter and built layers of cake and mouse into both shells. Next she stuck the two shells together to create a ball, and painted it in a generous helping of melted chocolate flecked with hazelnuts. For extra effect, she covered the mega Rochers in gold foil and set them in large paper baking cups.
