There's a huge sherbet fountain coming to London - and it's completely free

For anyone with a sweet tooth and a weakness for food trends, London is pretty much a never-ending adventure land filled with red velvet cookie dough and candy floss clouds, rainbow croissants and ice cream for breakfast.

And now there's another unmissable sugar-fuelled event to add to your diary - on Wednesday 27 September, for one night only, culinary event experts Bompas & Parr will be inviting visitors to eat from an 8ft sherbet fountain on Motcomb Street in Belgravia.

While event organisers are keeping the finer details under wraps until the big day, the structure is expected to be a cross between a fountain and a pergola, covered with lots of flowers, foliage and pineapples, and the sweet stuff will be dispensed from hanging glass taps. In short, it's worth a visit for the Instagram potential alone. The best bit? It's free to experience - all you have to do is get yourself to Motcomb Street between 5pm and 10pm next Wednesday.

Despite the mystery surrounding the event, we're expecting that it will be one to remember – especially if Bompas & Parr's previous stunts are anything to go by. The company's recent events have included a multi-sensory event ice cream experience for Häagen-Dazs, a walk-in flavour-changing fruit cloud, and a spa experience dedicated to 'unconscious desires'.

The sherbet fountain will be the main event at a ‘gourmet food street party’ to celebrate the reopening of Motcomb Street, which is also home to lots of other London foodie favourites, including branches of Ottolenghi and Rococo Chocolates.
