The all-new 'pizzaghetti' smoothie

Published

Forget pomegranate, cucumber, kiwi or summer berries.

The latest creation to cause a stir in the foodie world turns the traditional smoothie formula on its head by blending two of the least wholesome ingredients you can imagine.

The "pizzaghetti" smoothie fuses together Italy's greatest exports - pizza and spaghetti - for an unholy concoction of carb-heavy froth.

The concept might have die-hard gourmands running for the hills, but Couche Tard, the Canadian supermarket chain behind the idea, insist it is the real deal.

In fact, their YouTube advertising campaign touts the Pizzaghetti smoothie as "l'Amour dans la verre"; love in a glass.

The video features a pizza slice falling in love with a spaghetti figure, alongside stomach-churning close-ups of melted mozzarella mixed with tomato swirls and the encouraging words, "Om nom nom nom!"

Fancy slurping down a grease-filled cup of your own? You'll have to head to Québec, where Pizzaghetti smoothies are being rolled out in Couche Tard branches all this summer. Or whet your appetite with a look at the ad, below.

We're sold.
