The Everything Doughnut has changed breakfast forever

Getting yourself going in the morning can be task enough, without the Big Breakfast Decision to contend with pre-caffeine intake.

Do we want a cream cheese bagel? Yes. A poppy seed topped muffin? Always, yes. Something warm or toasted? Er, yes, that sounds pretty good too. How do we choose?

Troy Neal and Leslie Polizzotto of the Doughnut Project  in New York City have identified this early morning struggle however, and created something quite special in answer.

Enter the Everything Doughnut. It’s not available here in the UK yet, but it really should be.

A bagel inspired doughnut topped with cream cheese, the Doughnut Project’s chef-d'œuvre is also sprinkled with every kind of breakfast topping you can imagine - poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic and sea salt, pumpkin seeds.

Of course, it flies in the face of all things ‘clean and lean’ - a smoothie bowl, it is not. But some mornings, don’t you just wish you could eat all the breakfasts?

Creators Neal and Polizzotto know the Everything Doughnut may not be everyone’s ideal wake-up call, but feel they’re onto a winner regardless.

Talking to Gothamist, Neal says: “I knew we kind of hit a chord a little bit because not everybody's on board, or they're a little skeptical about what it's going to be like.

“Our idea is to straddle that fence between the salty and the sweet and this [idea] was one that definitely does that.”

Get the cream cheese out, we’re going to attempt to Everything-up our own doughnut.
