A study has found out which city loves gin the most, based on the telling use of Instagram hashtags.

It’s no secret that we Brits love gin – we put it in our Christmas crackers and advent calendars, and we’ve been known to make boozy brownies by using it as an ingredient in baking. Some of us even enjoy a tipple while doing yoga.

Of course, our love of gin should come as no surprise – there’s a strong tradition of gin manufacture in the UK (despite the fact that the spirit is said to originally hail from Holland) and many of the world’s best-loved gin brands were born in Britain.

And now we have solid proof that we really are gin’s biggest fans. According to recent Instagram data analysed by Flash Pack, the most popular gin-based hashtags on the platform – #Gin, #Ginlovers and #Ginoclock – were all most widely used by Instagram users in London.

In fact, the study estimated that Londoners drank the equivalent of over one billion G&Ts in 2016.

After London, the other top five gin-loving cities on the list were named as Berlin, New York, Barcelona, and Broadbeach in Australia.

Some excellent 2018 holiday ideas for all the juniper fiends out there.
