With each new relationships comes unforgettable moments - the keystones of a love story.
Etched into your entwined memories are milestones such as the first kiss, the first time "we" slips into a conversation and meeting relatives for the first time.
But have you ever wondered if you were 'on the right track' with the rest of the nation?
A new study has revealed the 'definitive' dating milestones in a relationship, in case you're feeling competitive or insecure.
The survey, conducted by Match.com, asked 2,000 British men and women to create a map of their average relationship journey.
It found that the average British woman meets their life partner aged 25, while men find 'The One' at 28.
The all-important "I love you" comes after five months (said to each other; not the one that you drunkenly mumble by mistake).
The survey covered a range of different relationship mileposts, from having sex for the first time to having a child together.
"While each relationship moves at its own pace, daters are often reassured by comparing their experiences with others," Kate Taylor, a dating expert for Match.com, told the MailOnline.
"We all ask our friends, 'When did you know your partner was The One?' or, 'How long did you wait before you kissed?'"
Because nothing spices up a relationship quite like comparing yours with other people's.
