Earlier this year, we brought you the joyous news that Sabrina the Teenage Witch – aka everyone’s favourite kids show of the Nineties – is getting a seriously dark TV reboot from the makers of Netflix’s Riverdale.

And now it has been revealed that Sabrina Spellman won’t be returning to our screens alone: the titular character will be joined by Harvey Kinkle, otherwise known as her floppy-haired and incredibly understanding high school boyfriend.

You know, the one she runs out on her wedding for come the end of the original series:

Yup, that Harvey.

A few days ago, comic book writer and playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa – who is heading up the Sabrina reboot based on his comic, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – shared a photo of the pilot episode’s script on his official Instagram page.

And eagle-eyed fans quickly zoomed in to a) read the script (which sounds every bit as empowering as we remember), and b) find out who Sabrina is talking to.

Check it out:

Unlike the original series, Sabrina seems far more Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque in this version of events: according to this script, she’s incredibly protective over her high school boyfriend, telling him that nothing in the spooky Greendale woods can harm him so long as he sticks close to her and lets her do her thing.

And, in another pleasant twist, it seems as if Sabrina isn’t going to keep her half-witch nature a secret from Harvey this time around, either.

“I wanted you to see where I was born, Harvey,” she tells him. “Not in Greendale General, like it says on my birth certificate. Here. In this grove of trees. Almost 16 years ago. And, uhm, where I'll be reborn this Saturday night. On my birthday. At the stroke of midnight. In the middle of a penumbral lunar eclipse. The kind that only happens once every 66 years.

“That's why I can't go to Rosalind's Halloween party this weekend.”

Fair enough.

The new TV series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, has been pegged as a coming-of-age story “that traffics in horror, the occult, and witchcraft,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

In the series, Sabrina will be seen struggling to come to terms with her half-human, half-witch heritage as she tries to protect her family and friends from dark forces looming over Riverdale's neighbouring community Greendale.

And, considering it will be similar in tone to “Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist”, we imagine it’s going to have far more jump-scares than the original TV show.

One thing that remains uncertain, though, is whether smart-talking cat Salem Saberhagen will be making a comeback. Fingers crossed the evil dictator (trapped in the body of a feline) will return to our screens alongside Harvey and Sabrina, eh?
