Selfridges opens in-store library

Calling all bookworms and literary lovers...

There is now a new space for you to revel in the inspirational power of words.

From 12 January to 1 March, Selfridges London is transforming its UltraLounge on the Lower Ground floor of the store into a library, complete with story-telling books, hand-writing analysis sessions and a string of other specialised lectures and workshops.

The library is curated by publishers Penguin, Thames and Hudson and Faber and Taschen and includes over 15,000 of their most inspirational reads.

It is part of Selfridges' Words Words Words initiative launched this year to celebrate the power of the written word and make a stand over library closures around the UK. It aims to highlight the risk these closures pose to education standards, literacy and creativity.

A plethora of celebrities from Thandie Newton to Sophie Dahl have signalled their support of the campaign by revealing which books inspire them the most.
