Could it be An American Girl in Paris Part Trois?
We’re big fans of Sex and the City. Yes, the series had its faults but it was a show ahead of its time, that focused on feminist, sexually-liberated, career driven women, with stories that we followed for six seasons.
Die-hard fans will know that the final episode of the cult series ended in Paris, when Carrie Bradshaw realised that moving to an unknown city for The Russian was a terrible mistake. She was effectively rescued by Mr Big, who swept her off back to The Big Apple (we said there were some faults).
Carrie’s Parisian experience didn’t exactly go to plan, but thanks to news that SATC creator Darren Star is set to produce a new show about an American woman moving, and staying in Paris, we feel like we’re getting a second chance.
The show, which has a working title of Emily in Paris, will be about an ambitious young woman, said to be in the 20-something bracket, from America, presumably called Emily. When an unexpected job opportunity arises in the most romantic city in the world, she ups sticks and moves to Paris, intent on showing the French marketing firm what she’s made of, and how they do things in the US.
As expected, cultures clash and our heroine suffers some bumps in the road when it comes to figuring out life on the other side of the world. We’re also expecting to see a healthy dose of romance in the show, which makes sense seeing as it’s set in the city of love.
Filming for the ten-episode half-hour series will start in Paris next year, and will premiere on the Paramount Network.
When Carrie made the leap to leave New York she did it for someone else, and what we love about Emily is that she’s not only doing it for herself, but to boss her career, picking up a wealth of experiences and life lessons in the process no doubt.
As filming for the show is yet to start we don’t have any more details when it comes to release dates, but watch this space…
