The International Association of Professional Birth Photographers (IAPBP) have just announced the winners of their annual photography competition.

Each year, a panel of judges from IAPBP comb through hundreds of images of women from around the world giving birth to choose an overall winner, as well as a winner in three categories of labour, delivery and postpartum.

When it comes to honest photography, this year's winning images certainly don't disappoint, depicting childbirth in all of its beautiful, chaotic glory.

From intimate images of women in the throes of labour to the very first photo of a newly born baby, scroll down to see the winners, plus some other entries to the competition.
