This is it! Your votes are in, they’ve been counted and verified and we can now reveal the winner of our stylish mum competition...

Described by her daughter Emma Thorne as "effortless and inspirational, with a natural air of glamour about her," you voted in your hundreds for Julie Anne Dryden-Hall to win our stylish mum competition 2012, scooping a champagne afternoon tea for two at the five-star Royal Horseguards Hotel in London.

"I’m ecstatic and so proud of Emma for doing this for me. I come alive when I’m in London and I’m looking forward to the champers and the hotel looks fantastic too … just the whole thing really," Julie told Stylist after hearing that she'd been crowned the most stylish mum of all.

"We're both absolutely thrilled! I can’t tell you how happy we are!" added Emma.

A clear front-runner with 336 votes in total, it turns out that Julie was influenced by her own stylish mum when she was growing up: “I started collecting Vogue magazines when I was 12 and have always loved anything to do with fashion and beauty, especially make-up. My mum was always very stylish when I was growing up; very classic and an effortless dresser and I’ve learnt a lot from her.”

A lover of M&S, Jaeger and House of Fraser, Julie is often on hand to offer her daughter Emma advice – and a few extras for her wardrobe too: “I always raid her accessory drawer when I go to see her ,” says Emma, “she’s got these cool gold retro belts that I wear as long necklaces, and there are these vintage jeans that I’ve had my eye on for ages but as yet can only fit about one leg in them!”

“Mum likes to give lots of beauty tips – and she’s always right about things. Like when I'd obviously over-plucked my eyebrows she’d always be trying to draw them on for me: she’s got a great ‘mum way’ of saying maybe I need to rethink things!”

As well as passing her words of wisdom on to her daughter, Julie was also happy to offer us a few tips on growing old gracefully: “I would say don’t put too much effort in; don’t overdo it. Stay true to yourself and look after your health – when you feel good in yourself you start taking an interest in clothes.” Winning words indeed.

Congratulations to Julie and Emma, and a huge thank you to all who entered the stylish mums competition – we have never seen such a glamorous collection of well-heeled mums, not to mention the heart-warming words that accompanied many entries.
