On Tuesday night we held the inaugural Stylist Life Lessons event at the Ham Yard Hotel in Central London.
Borne out of the idea that there are few things in life more valuable than advice, we invited three particularly inspirational women to share with us the one piece of wisdom they think every woman needs to know.
For the first event, we had a show-stopping line-up, that included Laura Bates, the founder of Everyday Sexism, stand-up comedian and actress Francesca Martinez, and Arianna Huffington, who created The Huffington Post.
The night kicked off with Laura Bates, who gave us an insight into why and how she began Everyday Sexism, and shared her theory on the reason many of us don't take a leap of faith.
If we only ever think about the outcome, and get scared off by the overwhelming nature of that, then we are scared to throw ourselves into the unknown but "it's the journey that shapes the outcome" said Bates.
Next up, was the hilarious Francesca Martinez who had the whole audience in stitches immediately. Her bittersweet look back at her life growing up with cerebral palsy was a fascinating insight into how 'normal' shouldn't be a label and how we let society define us.
Martinez advised that how we define ourselves shouldn't be done by others, "only YOU can define yourself".
And headlining the event was the phenomenally successful Arianna Huffington, who has now written 15 books, including her most recent Thrive, and of course set up the internet newspaper The Huffington Post.
Arianna advocated that we all have a digital detox and spend more time investing in ourselves. She spoke passionately about the many demands on our time and energy and how the only way to be at our best is to allow ourselves to turn off without guilt and to invest in our most important commodity, ourselves.
While all three inspirational women offered different pieces of wisdom, they did all agree that sleep is the best thing ever.
If you didn't manage to nab a ticket, then we've compiled some of the best pieces of advice from the speakers from last night's event.
