An artist has created a brilliant family tree of dogs, which marks out just how 181 dog breeds are interconnected.

The hand illustrated chart features illustrations of all canine varieties - from pugs to pinchers and spaniels to samoyeds - highlighting just how diverse dogs are and how they branch from one another.

The chart moves all the way from mountain dogs to no sporting dogs, making links between a wide range of dogs. For example, the chart shows that a chihuahua – the smallest breed of dog that heralds from Mexico – can be easily be linked to rotweillers, which are known to make good – and sometimes ferocious – guard dogs.

Dedicated dog lovers out there will be happy to know the infographic is available to buy from Pop Chart Lab. The first 500 prints will be signed and numbered by the artists. Just in time for Mother's Day.
