The Notebook-inspired engagement shoot goes viral on 10th anniversary of the film

When someone utters the words "The Notebook" we picture our faces strewn with thick hot tears and think of heart-wrenching love. That is the power of this 2004 film. In 2010, one Canadian couple's The Notebook-inspired engagement photoshoot took the internet by storm and went viral.

Now on the 10th anniversary of the release of the film, images of Cindy Gauthier and Jean-Nicola Barile reenacting famous scenes from the romantic drama, have gone viral once more.

"It's just funny that it's, all of a sudden, resurfacing," Gauthier told TODAY.com. "People that I didn't know then, particularly at work, are like, ‘Oh, my God! You're in those pictures!"

The images were shot by Blushing Bride Studio and the couple suggested their favorite film, The Notebook, after the photographer, Chelsea Gray, convinced them to "go a little crazy" on their engagement shoot.

Commenting on the scene in which the leading couple, Noah and Allie, kiss in the rain, Gray said, "We actually did it with a hose. We just hosed them down. It was so much fun."

She continued, "[And] that red truck? We literally came across it [by coincidence]. It was just sitting on the side of the road. It was for sale, so we proceeded to help ourselves and sort of remove the sign for a few minutes, and just get in there and take pictures. That was an amazing fluke."

The couple have now been married for four years and have a two-year-old son, London.
