The World’s First Photobooth Festival

Published

A bit like burger joints, Varsity jackets and er, Winnebago mini-breaks, photobooths have become the latest chapter of Americana to enjoy a moment right now. And so, in timely fashion, comes The World’s First Photobooth Festival, at Columbia Road, London on Saturday 21st July (tickets, £10 each). Local east end chefs will be rustling up summer bites and ice cream, while Rough Trade DJ’s offer the soundtrack and the Powder Puff girls are on hand to provide photo-ready pep-ups. Not forgetting the booths themselves – nothing can really compete with the time sake memento of a strip of photos. Here are the ones to watch out for on the day:

The Disco Booth

Like a photographic disco inferno, this booth offers the backdrop of a disco ball as well as zingy disco lights. Stop staying disco. Truly, though this is what wind machines were made for.

The Photo Stream

Photobooth purists (and Instagram-addicts), this photobooth, with aluminium-style exterior and vintage-tinged photos, this is for you. Ideal for pretending you and your loved one live on a ranch in Kentucky in 1964.

The Underwater Booth

The booth that leaves children in a dizzy fug of wonderment, it includes a front layer of bubbles, a backdrop of the deep blue sea and – watch out for it – a rogue shark.

The Pop-Art Booth

Haven’t been immortalised in your own Andy Warhol portrait? Nor have we. No matter – this is the cleverest of photobooths, for it has the power to do that for you, transforming your photo in an original monochrome image, blasted with colour.

The Dinky Dub

In the spirit of inclusivity and fun, the Dinky Dub is the latest booth to join the boothnation.com family, able to welcome up to 8 people in around its hand-crafted camper-van table at any one time. It’s the next best thing to a summer holiday.
