Desserts are having a moment. Last year saw foodies queueing around the block to get their hands on one of Dominique Ansel’s cronuts, piling into Flesh & Buns to instagram a green tea s’more and eating salted caramel everything.

Although pudding has long been considered an after-thought (it literally coming after your main course), it seems as though the dinner tables are turning. Dessert is fast becoming dining out’s raison-d’etre.

1) EGGSCELLENT

This dessert is called 10/10/10 after the score it received at the Great British Menu. Served at Glynn Purnell’s Michelin-starred Birmingham restaurant, Purnell, these eggs are in fact perfectly cooked little crème brûlées (although, they prefer the title 'burnt English custard), with a side of honeycomb. You might break your teeth but it’ll be totally worth it. Crunchy wickedness.
