From The Graduate to 500 Days of Summer, romantic ambiguity makes for great cinema. But in real-life relationships, unanswered questions are nothing short of torture.
Maybe your last relationship ended out of the blue, and you’ve never been given an adequate explanation. Perhaps you think your friend fancies you, but the thought of actually asking them makes your blood run cold. Or possibly you’ve been “casually” dating someone for months, and you can’t quite pluck up the courage to enquire what “this is”.
But what can you do about it?
You could just ask the person, of course. Drop them a text; pick up the phone; send a singing telegram to their place of work. All perfectly reasonable.
Or – or – you could interrogate them on national television.
A new show on Channel 4 is bringing together all kinds of couples to do just that. In The Naked Truth, ex-lovers, current partners and potential romances are united for major heart-to-hearts – and they’re allowed to ask absolutely anything.
From “How often have you thought about me in the last 15 years?” to “Why do you stalk me on social media?”, the first trailer covers some seriously awkward bases:
The Naked Truth will air on Channel 4 in autumn 2016, and looks like it will have definite First Dates vibes. We can’t wait.
