Nothing says Christmas like a tree laden with alcohol.

Boozy baubles have proved popular with those wishing to have a very merry Christmas for a few years now.

In fact, this year the leaves were still green when we started celebrating the influx of 2017’s gin-filled Christmas tree decorations, not to mention the well documented (and enjoyed) delights of gin-filled crackers.

But what of the non-gin fans? The rise of the junipery stuff is all well and good, but there are many who (whisper it) may prefer a different festive libation.

Well, gin-loathers – your days of exclusion (and sobriety) are well and truly over as it appears The Lakes Distillery has heard your prayers.

The award-winning company has launched its own sets of alcohol-filled baubles, filled with either high-quality whisky or vodka. And, yes there’s gin too should you so require.

In fact, they’re as easy on the eye as they are the palette – The sleek, glass spheres are ridiculously elegant and can be tied to your fir’s branches with a black silk ribbon.

The larger 20cl baubles start at £19.95

Far from simply another novelty Christmas product, alcohol aficionados should be seriously impressed by the story and craftsmanship behind their chosen tipples.

Those opting for whisky-filled baubles will be sipping on whisky from not just one of the British Isles, oh no. According to the company, ONE Whisky is unique in being the first and only blend using whiskies from each country in the British Isles, including at least one whisky from England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales. A single 20cl bauble costs £19.95 or £35 for a box of six 5cl baubles.

If vodka is more your thing, The Lakes Vodka is triple-distilled and made from the waters of the River Derwent. As with the whisky baubles, you can purchase a 20cl version for £19.95, but if you do decide to go for a box of six you’ll be rewarded handsomely (in our opinion), as a set of six contains not only two Lakes Vodka baubles, but two filled with Salted Caramel Vodka Liqueur and two with Espresso Vodka Liqueur.

Sip your way through classic, salted caramel or espresso-flavoured vodka

Of course, we can’t deny gin’s existence entirely (and between you and us, we wouldn’t want to), so there is a mother’s ruin option for those who can’t just resist.

Possibly the most Christmassy-flavoured of the bunch, The Lakes Gin baubles are made with wild Cumbrian juniper berries and is supposed to evoke the taste of the Cumbrian Fells. Once again, you can buy a single bauble for £19.95, but the box of six option offers festively fruity flavours, including The Lakes Damson Gin Liqueur (with notes of cherries, plums, juniper and hints of spice) and The Lakes Sloe Gin with hints of raspberry jam, cinnamon and orange.

Now all you have to do is choose your Christmas poison…
