Disney has released the trailer for Frozen II.

We’re counting down the days until Frozen 2.

The mass of merchandise and the fact that we can still sing ‘Let It Go’ like we learnt it yesterday can make it seem like Frozen is a new sensation, but it’s been six years since the Disney film hit the big screen.

It garnered legions of fans, young and old, with its story of two sisters battling a villain who wanted to gain control of their kingdom. And now, Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell) are set to return for Frozen 2, and band together again to save their world.

Disney has just released the first official trailer for Frozen 2, and while it doesn’t give us too many plot details (or any songs), it has made us excited.

It opens with Elsa swimming up through a deep body of water, encountering what appears to be a phantom horse before breaking the surface.

We then hear Pabbie (Ciaran Hinds) talking to the sisters as we cut through various scenes, including one of the siblings as children and another showing Elsa in the dark as a horse made of light gallops around her before eventually transforming into a flock of birds.

We also see Anna and Olaf in a boat, falling over the side of a waterfall, and the sisters, Olaf (Josh Gad), Sven and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) walking in between Stonehenge-like rocks into a cloud and disappearing.

Over this all, Pabbie said: “Elsa, the past is not what it seems. You must find the truth. Go north, across the enchanted lands and into the unknown. But be careful. We have always feared Elsa’s power are too much for this world, now we must hope they are enough.”

At the end of his speech, Anna promises: “I won’t let anything happen to her.”

Although we don’t know much about the story, it does seem that Frozen 2 will be darker in tone than its predecessor. And while we have no character details yet, both Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K Brown have joined the cast of Frozen 2, according to the film’s IMDB page.

Ahead of the film’s release, fans have also been speculating about the possibility of Elsa getting a girlfriend, and while there’s no confirmation yet as to whether this will happen, the creators of Frozen have been listening.

And Disney has also been listening to demands for more Frozen content: a stage musical will come to London in autumn 2020. Thankfully we don’t have to wait that long for the film; Frozen 2 will be released in November this year.
