Oz: The Great and the Powerful film trailer

Published

Hurrah, the official trailer for James Franco’s new film Oz: The Great and the Powerful has finally been released by Disney.

Besides a grainy promo leaflet shot (check it out here), absolutely no images of the Wizard of Oz prequel have been released, until now that is.

The Oz: The Great and the Powerful trailer reveals that - in tandem with its precursor the Wizard of Oz - the film begins in black and white, telling the story of small-time magician Oscar Diggs (played by James Franco), as he uses tricks to out scratch a dubious living in Kansas.

However, as Oscar is swept off to the Land of Oz in a hot air balloon, director Sam Raimi ensures hyper-colour fills the screen - just as it did for Judy Garland as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

Packed with plenty of CGI effects and the addition of the three beautiful witches, Theodora (played by Mila Kunis), Glinda (Michelle Williams) and Evanora (Rachel Weisz), Oz: The Great and the Powerful looks set to top the list of blockbusters for 2013.
