It's the end of an era - Downton Abbey is finally closing its doors. While the sixth series drew to a close in November, the final loose ends are being tied up in one of the show's now-traditional Christmas specials, and the trailer has just been released.
At the end of the last series we were all left asking questions - will Handsome Henry ever live up to Marvellous Matthew as a husband and heir to the Abbey? Has Lady Mary really ruined Lady Edith's life by blabbing about her secret child? What on EARTH will happen to the Dowager Countess' butler Spratt's career as an agony aunt? Who will look after the pigs? Etc!
We've got a few hints in the trailer - Edith meets her beau Bertie again, reformed conniver Thomas leaves the Abbey saying he "arrived as a boy, left as a man" and the ever-jovial Lord Grantham asks Carson if he's ok "with the way things turned out". What things are these?
There's also a lot of kissing from every couple ever conceived in the history of Downton - will Irish Tom get it together with the socialist schoolteacher Miss Bunting and whisper sweet political nothings into one another's ears all Christmas long?
Also - Lady Mary's son George slowly begins to more and more resemble a 1920s Prince George. Curiouser and curiouser. Plus singing. Hooray for Christmas!
