One million bottles of water are sold around the world every minute, according to the Guardian. With around 260 billion plastic bottles sold in 2016 across the globe.

The success of trial will be measured by the zoological society of London from now until the summer. With a bigger roll out planned across the country, including the possible introduction of water fountains.

“We all need to try harder to cut the excessive use of single-use plastic bottles, cups and cutlery that can end up pointlessly overflowing our landfill sites, finding their way into our oceans and harming our environment,” Khan said.
