A new infographic reveals what your desk and workspace habits and organisation say about you.
Created by Real Business and Xerox (yes, we also think about Friends too), who consulted Helene Segura, a certified professional organiser and Linda Samuels, president for the Institute for Challenge Disorganisation, everything from the way in which you arrange your papers to the colours around you are dissected as personality traits.
For example, those who sit with a cluttered table with lots of papers and boxes stacked up are likely to be procrastinators, although the over at Xerox also say that it could indicate that a person is sentimental. Well, that's our excuse anyway.
On the flip side, those who have nothing on their desks are considered to be hyper-organised or, of course, they could just not have enough to do. If you like to surround yourself with photos of friends and family, you definitely have a "life" outside of work. Although, be warned, as this can lead to distraction.
As for colours, red is thought to stimulate appetite, whereas blue, green and other earth tones are thought to be calming. And if you need a bit of a boost, surround yourself with a touch of yellow as it's considered to give you energy.
Those who find it difficult to concentrate in the office environment might find it helpful to listen to music, but classical is placed at the top of the list for helping productivity.
Finally, workers who enjoy having knick-knacks on their table might be kinesthetic, in that they work better by touching things (calm down). However, this could also mean you're not serious about your job. So that super-soaker you've got lying around might need to go.
