“I have 18,574 recent pics, which it turns out isn’t all that much. I do go through and delete screenshots and stupid stuff I take pics of for WhatsApp groups, but I also have the thing turned on that stops WhatsApp pics from automatically saving to my phone. I don’t need anyone else’s junk on my camera roll.

“My photos are a mix of my cat, Limão; my husband; socialising; running and racing; and nature. I spend a lot of time taking photos of flowers and leaves – I need to print them out or catalogue them somehow because they just get lost in the crowd, but I take photos of nature to observe and concentrate on the thing in front of me. To some degree, it doesn’t matter what happens to the photo. Otherwise, I love photos taken at races or long cycle rides – you can remember how amazing you felt afterwards just from looking at your face.

“I’ve got a few very old pics on my phone from the first smartphone I ever had, and those are from graduation (an extremely messy, out-of-control evening). I’d never delete those, but I guess my favourite photo is of my then-boyfriend (now husband) on the first adventure we ever had. It was during lockdown, and I persuaded him to buy a second-hand bike and cycle up the canal to a secret pond. We skinny-dipped in the sun, and I think we were totally in love by the time we returned.”
