From lugging around a heavy hand luggage to repeated queuing, boarding a flight can be a stressful and exhausting process.

But one flight attendant is attempting to cheer up passengers by leaving secret notes on airplane windows.

Taylor Tippett from North Carolina, who works for American Airlines, has been taping small slips of paper with words of encouragement for over a year now and sharing them on Instagram using the hashtag #wordsfromthewindowseat.

She's since amassed over 120,000 followers on the social network and sparked copycats who are also leaving anonymous inspiring notes at 30,000 feet in the air.

The first quote she wrote was “You’re already invited,” which she took from her favourite book How to Be An Explorer of the World by Keri Smith.

Despite her good intentions, she's had some instances where passengers have been a little alarmed by the unexpected notes.

“Once I'm done taking by picture (for Instagram), I'll tape it in the safety card for the passenger to find it or for the next passenger to find it as a little pick-me-up,” she tells Seeker Stories.

Tippet says she does it for the same reason she does her job. “There's nothing like your office being in the sky...and meeting 300 plus people a day and knowing your smile and kindness matters.”

Take a look at Tippet's in-flight secret notes below.
