An artist with synesthesia has depicted how famous songs 'look' in a series of mind-blowing abstract paintings.

Melissa McCracken discovered she had the nuerological condition aged 15, when one day she asked her brother what colour the letter 'C' was.

"I realised my mind wasn't quite as normal as I had thought," the San Diego artist writes on her website.

She describes the condition as a "wonderful brain malfunction" meaning that she "experiences the 'wrong' sensation to certain stimuli."

As a music lover with the ability to see sound and hear colour, McCracken began painting how she sees her favourite songs - and the results are phenomenal.
