“There’s a lot to do,” she explains. “At the beginning of the season we need to create a database of all the players – creating profiles for the newly signed players and working out everyone’s value. We decided to offer a fantasy game for the World Cup this summer, and we had to put together all the data for 32 teams.”

As a registered non-profit, ShePlays doesn’t have to pay to access data about the leagues, but the cost of maintaining and developing the website largely falls on the shoulders of its senior members – something Bill acknowledges is far from sustainable. But while the team want to secure investment, they’re concerned that businesses still don’t see women’s football – and the culture surrounding it – as a big investment opportunity. She points to Mary Earps’ fight just to get Nike to sell her World Cup shirt as a prime example. “There are companies out there who have the money but still aren’t investing,” she says. “I don’t think there’s really an excuse for that.”
