Julie is the CEO of Ariadne Capital, an investment firm (specialising in media and technology companies) and the founder of Entrepreneur Country. She also co-founded First Tuesday, a networking service, which was sold for $50m in 2000.
Well known as one of the two BBC online Dragons, she is also a regular business and economics commentator with recent appearances on Newsnight, BBC Breakfast, Radio 4’s Today Programme and The Apprentice’s ‘You’re Fired!’
As a result of her intertwining roles of entrepreneur, advisor, investor and industry commentator, Julie has been awarded Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and World Economic Forum Global Leader of Tomorrow awards, earned a place in the Wall Street Journal’s Top 30 Most Influential Women in Europe and been voted INSEAD’s 50 Alumni most likely to change the world. She was also selected to be a member of Vince Cable’s Entrepreneurs’ Forum as part of Global Entrepreneurs’ Week and was Cited as one of the '1000 Most Influential People in London' by the London Evening Standard both in 2010.
