What is it about men, and especially good-looking celebrity men, with their arms draped around their mums that makes us swoon that little bit more?

Here we've rounded-up the cutest and most charming photos of actors, and a couple of musicians, with their mothers.

  • Ewan McGregor and Carole Lawson

Ewan took his mother to the IWC Annual Filmmakers dinner, Antibes, France, in 2012.

  • Matthew McConaughey and Mary Kathlene McCabe

Who makes a better date than your mother? The Oscar-winner took his mum to the Two For the Money film premiere in 2005.

  • Liam Hemsworth and Leonie Hemsworth

Leonie Hemsworth has some great genes, seeing as she not only created Liam but also his brother Chris Hemsworth too. Here, Liam took his mum to the Cosmopolitan Fun Fearless Awards, back in 2012.

  • Jonah Hill and Sharon Lyn Chalkin

At this year's Oscars, Jonah Hill, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street, took his mum.

  • Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal

Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal is responsible for not one but two Hollywood actors, with Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal both boasting impressive on-screen careers. Here's Jake with him mum at the Charlotte Grey film premiere in 2001.

  • Ryan Gosling and Donna Gosling

We imagine many conversations go like this with Donna Gosling: "Hi Donna, I love your son. Can I get his number?" Well at least that's what we'd say if we ever met her. In 2013, Ryan took his mum to his premiere for film Gangster Squad.

  • Michael Fassbender and Adele Fassbender

Fassbender opted to take his mum to the 86th Annual Academy Awards Oscars this year.

  • James Franco and Betsy Franco

In May 2013, James Franco was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, so he took his mum to celebrate.

  • Chris Evans and Lisa Evans

Last year, Chris Evans (AKA Captain America) took his mum as his date to the Oscars.

  • Robert Downey Jr and Elise Downey

At Robert Downey Jr.'s hand and footprint ceremony in LA in 2009 he took his mum along with him.

  • Johnny Depp and Betty Sue Palmer

What would Captain Jack Sparrow be without his mum Betty? Johnny took along his mother to the Nick of Time film premiere way back in 1995.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio and mother Irmelin DiCaprio

So what he didn't win an Oscar again? We bet his mum was on hand to lend him support when he lost out to Matthew McConaughey. Clearly they're close as he even took her to this year's Golden Globe Awards.

  • Tom Cruise and Mary Lee Mapother South

In 2007, at an event at the Museum of the Moving Image honouring Tom Cruise, the Mission Impossible star took along his mother, Mary

  • Chace Crawford and Dana Crawford

This family clearly has very good genes. Just take a look at Dana Crawford, it's no wonder both Blair and Serena (et al) fell for his charms. Here's Chace and his mum at the What To Expect When You're Expecting film premiere.

  • Bradley Cooper with Gloria Cooper

How dapper does Bradley look here? At last year's 85th Annual Academy Awards, Mr Cooper brought along his mum to celebrate his nomination in the Best Actor category.

  • Sean Combs and Janice Combs

At the Get Him To The Greek world film premiere, Sean 'P Diddy' Combs took his mother.

The best person to celebrate your Oscar victory with? Your mother, of course. Here's Best Actor Oscar winner Adrien Brody in 2003, which he won for his portrayal of Jewish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman during the Nazi occupation of Warsaw in The Pianist.

  • Jared Leto with Constance Leto

Praise be to the woman who gave us Jordan Catalano. Here is Constance (great name) and Jared at this year's Annual Screen Actors Guild. Also can we just pause for a moment to recognise just how ridiculously good-looking both Jared and his mother are? Great, thanks.
