The award for most heartwarming story of the day is the news that model Lauren Scruggs, who lost her left hand and eye in a helicopter accident, is newly engaged.
Texan native Lauren, 25, was proposed to by her boyfriend Jason Kennedy, 32, who is a news correspondent at E!, over the weekend and she said yes.
On May 30, Jason flew to the model's home in Dallas and proposed to her by writing "Will you marry me" in candles on the lawn beneath her balcony (pictured below).
Back in 2011, the then 23-year-old model and fashion blogger walked into a spinning plane propeller in the dark, losing her left eye and left hand from the injuries.
She now uses a prosthetic arm and eye, which she got soon after the accident and has been candid in speaking about her ordeal.
Lauren later penned a book, Still LoLo: A Spinning Propeller, a Horrific Accident, and a Family's Journey of Hope, in which she wrote that she thought she'd never find love:
"I was sure no guy would ever think I was attractive again, much less would want to marry me.''
But that wasn't the case. Lauren and her now fiancé, were introduced by Jason's E! colleague Giuliana Rancic, back in July last year. Less than a year later Jason decided to fly over to Texas and propose.
Later on, Lauren posted up a sweet picture of the couple, where you can clearly see her beautiful engagement ring, captioned with the words "possibly the best night of my life. I love you beyond".
Lauren's accident occurred on December 3, 2011, when a pilot she knew through a family friend took her up in a single-engine plane to look at Christmas lights.
However, it was after they landed when she was walking in the dark that she got caught in the propeller, which was apparently spinning so fast she couldn't see it in the dark.
Although just one-sixteenth of an inch of metal touched her, that was enough to keep Lauren in the hospital for nearly a month.
As a result of heavy media interest, to protect her privacy, nurses had to resort to calling her a code name (Sky) as paparazzi were camped outside her parent's home too.
