Following in the footsteps of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer have teamed up to write their own comedy screenplay.
Though they met just a few months ago after Lawrence saw Schumer's new film Trainwreck and got in touch to congratulate her, the pair have since formed a strong bond.
What started with introductory emails, says Jennifer Lawrence, quickly became texts, a sunshine holiday with friends and now a screenplay that’s close to completion.
Talking about their project in an interview with the New York Times, Lawrence says: “We play sisters. We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”
“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavours. It’s been the most fun experience of my life.”
Describing their creative process, the Hunger Games actress, who was recently revealed to be the highest paid female actor in Hollywood, says writing with Schumer hasn’t been what you’d call a hard slog.
“We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.”
Both Lawrence and Schumer plan to star in the comedy once it's ready to head into the production phase.
