Andrew Garfield has opened up about the relationship he shares with his ex, Emma Stone.

The actors were first introduced during Stone’s screen test to play the role of Gwen in the Spider Man films, back in 2010. They started dating in 2011 before ending their romance last October.

Now Garfield has revealed that the pair’s four-year relationship has left them with an “unconditional” bond.

"We care about each other so much, and that's a given, that's kind of this unconditional thing," he said on a Vanity Fair podcast.

"There's so much love between us and so much respect... It's also been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other.”

Garfield, 33, and Stone, 28, are also incredibly supportive of each other, with Garfield even giving his ex a standing ovation when she won a Golden Globe for her role in La La Land last weekend.

The pair are currently enjoying awards season, with Stone expected to receive an Oscar nomination and Garfield receiving acclaim for his part in wartime film Hacksaw Ridge.

"I'm her biggest fan as an artist. I'm constantly inspired by her work,” Garfield said.

"So, for me it's been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress she is."
