“I came to this country and I fell in love with its people and learned its history, and in doing so learned, how little I actually knew about the world,” explained Jolie, referencing the fact that she first visited the country for the filming of 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

"This country, for me was my awakening.”

The actor, who adopted her eldest son, Maddox, from Cambodia, added: "I'll always be very grateful to this country. I don't think I ever could give back as much as this country has given me.”

The film will be released on Netflix later this year.
