Anne Hathaway joins Occupy Wall Street

She may be worth an estimated $58 million dollars but actress Anne Hathaway was the latest celebrity to support the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York

Virtually unrecognisable in a navy coat and sunglasses, the One Day star joined demonstrators as they attempted to block access to the New York Stock Exchange. The actress joined demonstrators on the march to mark the movement’s two-month anniversary and was seen clutching a sign that read ‘Blackboards not Bullets’.

The Occupy Wall Street movement has recently come under attack from the New York police authorities, following a heavy-handed sweep to evict campers from the Wall Street area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Accompanied by boyfriend Adam Shulman, Hathaway’s undercover appearance was one of many celebrity endorsements of the renegade movement. Other stars who have joined protestors include Kanye West, Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley and comedian Russell Brand.

The Occupy Wall Street movement forms part of an ongoing global protest highlighting economic inequality and the corruption of big corporations.
