She's an Oscar-winning A-lister lauded as one of Hollywood's most talented and beautiful stars, but at 32, Anne Hathaway says she is losing roles because of her age.

Hathaway is the latest female actor to highlight Hollywood's sexism and ageism problem in an interview with Glamour, in which she reveals Hollywood casting directors are turning her away in favour of younger women.

Earlier this year Maggie Gyllenhaal, 38, revealed she had been deemed too old to play the part of a 55-year-old man's love interest, while Emma Thompson and Helen Mirren have recently spoken out against the industry's obsession with beguiling ingénues.

Hathaway admits that it's a problem she herself once profited from.

“I can't complain about it because I benefited from it,” Hathaway admitted. “When I was in my early twenties, parts would be written for women in their fifties and I would get them. And now I'm in my early thirties and I'm like, ‘Why did that 24-year-old get that part?’
