A few months ago, Zendaya Coleman inspired young girls to speak up for themselves after she called out Fashion Police's Giuliana Rancic for making racist comments about her hair

Now, the American singer and actress is being honoured by Mattel, in the form of her very own Barbie doll.

The one-of-a-kind doll will feature dreadlocks and a miniature version of the Vivienne Westwood dress she wore at the 2015 Oscars - the night the comments were made.

It will be presented at the Barbie Rock 'N' Royals Concert Experience in LA later this week, for which Zendaya will be the host.

The Barbie team made the announcement on Twitter, thanking the star for “raising your voice.”

Meanwhile, Zendaya said she was thrilled and honoured, “I’m excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices.”

Mattel recently launched the Barbie Fashionistas line, which includes dolls with eight different skin tones, 14 different facial shapes, 18 eye colours, 22 hairstyles and 23 hair colours for the very first time.
